This Sitmatic Alpha™ ESD & Cleanroom model is available in grade 8 X-Static Vinyl with Cleanroom technology (see below for details). Cleanroom & ESD Specifications
The primary concern in most cleanrooms is airborne particulates. Size of particulates is measured in microns (one micron equals 1/1000 millimeter). Airborne particulates of 5 microns or larger are typically used for measurement of air purity in cleanrooms. Alpha Cleanroom Seating has seat and backrest cushions upholstered and sealed with flowable silicon sealant for an air-tight seam. HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters are installed over the ventilation exit areas, scrubbing the air that is forced out of the cushions. These filters are 99.97% efficient at 0.3 microns. With this filtration, Sitmatic Alpha chairs and stools meet and exceed the standards for Class 1 Cleanrooms.
In many cleanrooms and production environments, the elimination of static electricity is a critical issue. Production yields and equipment integrity are at risk if static electricity is present. Under certain circumstances, the human body can store up to 35,000 volts of low amperage static electricity. If an individual with this static load were to touch a microchip or sensitive piece of testing equipment, the item would be destroyed by the electrostatic discharge. Alpha ESD (Electrostatic Dissipative) Seating is upholstered in special fabric or vinyl that is infused with conductive materials. Copper tape is installed in the backrest and seat to transmit electrical current from the cushions to the steel components. Current then passes through the pneumatic piston, into the legs of the five-star base, through the conductive casters, and out onto the floor.

Effective July 1, 2008, SITMATIC warrants that the products it sells, and all components thereof, shall be free from defects in workmanship or materials. Except for components specifically excluded, for the life of the product, SITMATIC shall, at its option, repair or replace any chair, or component thereof, that proves defective.
In the unlikely event you should require remedy under this warranty, simply locate the six digit control number on the chair mechanism and contact SITMATIC at 1(800) 288.1492. Sitmatic will, at your option, either send the necessary replacement to you at no cost, or arrange a service call by a factory authorized service technician. You may contact your authorized SITMATIC servicing dealer directly to effect the same remedy under this warranty.
Excluded items are operating mechanisms, pneumatic cylinders,casters, plastics, foam, fabric,finishes, labor costs, wood and urethane components which are warranted for ten (10) years. Damage, which in Sitmatic’s sole judgement, is the result of contact with adjacent furniture or normal wear is expressly excluded from this warranty. Onsite service is available to customers within a 50 mile radius of their authorized Sitmatic dealer. Warranty remedy for non-standard Sitmatic fabrics must be sought from the mills providing those fabrics. Except as herein stated, SITMATIC shall not be liable for any damages or for the breach of any warranty, expressed or implied, or for any other obligation or liability on the account of the products covered by this warranty. SITMATIC makes no warranty of merchantability or fitness for a specific purpose.
